Interior Designers: Here’s What to Know About Hiding Screens and TVs

When designing the interior of a home to include projectors or screens, your priority is most likely to meet your client’s expectations — if not go above and beyond. Many homeowners in the Colleyville area are interested in audio video solutions to hide their screens so that it’s not overtly on display all the time.

In this blog, we will look at some of the ways that you can best design a homeowner’s space to find the best solution — whether it’s subtly hiding the screen out of sight or disguising it with décor.

Hide Inside Artwork

The benefit of artwork that hides projector screens or TVs is twofold.

Any artwork can enhance the aesthetic of a room by complementing the existing décor or functioning as a statement piece. Then when the homeowner wants to put on a film or show, they simply use their automated system to move the artwork to display the TV or screen.

With artwork hiding a screen, you don’t have to make the design decision of whether to choose art over screens for a wall space. Instead, you can have both without compromising.

Rise from Specially-Designed Furniture

Furniture can be functional in more ways than one. In fact, while furniture may work as a statement piece in a room, it can also hide the client’s projector screen when not in use. The homeowner benefits from added décor to their space and can enjoy their media at any time simply by raising the screen from the furniture piece.

This furniture is intentionally-designed to house screens as not to damage them when hidden. The result is a beautiful piece of furniture to while housing a screen that’s out of sight when not in use.

Descend from the Ceiling

If your client is not interested in adding more artwork or furniture to their space — or maybe you as the designer don’t feel that the space will benefit from extra items—  then a descending screen may be the right solution. These screens roll back up into the ceiling when not in use, and then lower to be in sight only when the homeowner chooses for it to be.

Your client can lower the screen with a simple remote or app, and then raise it out of view when desired.
